A single HJ Flackhelfer shoulder board fitted with a Jeunesse Legionaire Badge to show their affiliation. Post 1938 slip-on type, black with blue edge piping and a light gray backing. An extremely unusual example of a shoulderboard of a youth organisated closely assocated with the HJ.
The Jeunesse Legionaire were a youth organisation modeled on the Hitler Youth, operating in the Wallonie (or Walloon) region, now in modern Belgium. The Jeunesse Legionaire were established in 1943 and were closely associated with the Rexit political party. This shoulderboard would have belonged to a Jeunesse Legionaire who volunteered to serve with the HJ Flackhelfer.
An illustration of a similar Jeunesse shoulderboard can be found on David Littlejohn's book "Foreign Legions of the Third Reich" Vol. 2 P94, although this shoulderboard is a Flackhelfer version with a blue piping.
